In 2018 we pledge to

Unite.

We will stand united against hate, misogyny, sexual violence and violence in all of its forms, racism, and all forms of discrimination, and we will resist the false idea that we must choose who among us will have power. We can -- and we must -- all be powerful, because our concerns and fates are intertwined.

Fight.

We will challenge abuses of power when and where they occur, and we will actively resist norms and hierarchies that devalue and diminish any person’s life and dignity.

Each and every person has a role to play in creating a future where everyone in the United States can thrive.  We commit to staying powerfully connected to move us toward freedom and justice, where we can all live and work with safety and dignity.  Respecting our differences, we come together on this common ground.

AFT

Organize.

It is the diversity of our nation that makes us strong, not the opposite. We will organize across all of our communities and workplaces, for real solutions.

Vote.

Our collective power is expressed at the polls. We will run for office, vote for candidates that listen to and represent us, and bring our families and our neighbors with us.

Love.

We will appreciate and lift one another up. We will look for opportunities to take care of each other and step into those moments. And we will win, with love, and with the hearts and minds of the millions who must be with us in order to create real and lasting positive change for generations to come.

Listen.

We will listen to those closest to inequality and injustice, and we will support them as they lead the way to solutions that leave no woman behind.

Hope.

We will imagine a better world and then reach for it.

Take the pledge

READ OUR STATEMENT OF UNITY

Watch the State of Our Union, a historic event set on the same night as President Trump's State of the Union address on Tuesday, January 30. Instead of listening to the same old hateful rhetoric and lies of our current administration, women reached across communities to share their stories of struggle, survival, and hope. Women leaders shared their vision for a new union. A union that reaches across all races, religions, communities and industries. A diverse union with the strength of the generations who have come before us, fueled by the hope of those who will come after us. A union that cares for and values our whole selves.

Featuring the united voices of national leaders Ai-jen Poo of National Domestic Workers Alliance, Tarana Burke of Girls for Gender Equity and #MeToo movement, Mónica Ramirez of Alianza Nacional de Campesinas (National Farmworker Women’s Alliance), as well as Cecile Richards of Planned Parenthood, Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner of MomsRising, and Arisha Hatch of Color of Change. And many more.
